The Development of IsZEB’s Five Research Projects Progresses Steadily
The IsZEB Cluster is advancing the implementation of the project “Innovative Digital Solutions for the Sustainable Development of the Built Environment”, aiming to develop and upgrade digital tools that support the digital and green transition of the construction sector.
Within the framework of this project, five research projects are being implemented, drawing on scientific knowledge and technological development to address current needs in the building and construction sector.
An Overview of IsZEB’s Five Research Projects
1. IsZEB Certify SRI: Upgrade of the existing IsZEB Certify computational tool through the integration of enhanced Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) assessment functionalities, including predictive analysis, techno-economic recommendations and the exploration of improvement scenarios to enhance buildings’ energy performance and smartness.
2. IsZEB Certify LCA: Integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into IsZEB Certify to evaluate the environmental impacts of buildings throughout their entire life cycle.
3. IsZEB HygroThermal: Upgrade of the existing computational tool for simulating the thermal and hygrothermal behaviour of building components, supporting the design and assessment of insulation systems through IFC files.
4. IsZEB AC2DC: Design and development of an AC2DC charging converter, focusing on power conversion technology for charging applications.
5. IsZEB Detect: Development of a digital tool combining Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) to enable the integrated mapping and assessment of buildings and structures in relation to geographical and climate data.
Through the development of new functionalities and the enhancement of existing tools, IsZEB strengthens the capabilities available for digital assessment, technical analysis and informed decision-making in the construction sector. At the same time, it aims to facilitate knowledge transfer to businesses and strengthen the connection between research and market needs in the Region of Central Macedonia.
Funding
The project is implemented under the Action “Cooperative Clusters for the Promotion of Innovation in Local Entrepreneurship” and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union and national funds, through the Central Macedonia Programme 2021–2027 (NSRF 2021–2027).
