The IsZEB Cluster Participated in the TEE/TKM Workshop on the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) for Buildings
A highly successful workshop entitled “Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) – Building Smart Readiness: From European Policy to the Greek Reality” was held on 5 June 2026 at the Auditorium of the Technical Chamber of Greece / Central Macedonia Section (TEE/TKM). The event was organized on the initiative of the Permanent Energy Committee of TEE/TKM and was held in conjunction with World Environment Day.
During the workshop, the findings of the Permanent Energy Committee of TEE/TKM regarding the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) were presented, along with the results of the pilot implementation phase of the indicator in Greece. The presentations highlighted both the opportunities and the challenges associated with the broader adoption of the SRI within the building sector.
As part of the technical presentations, Christina Mykoniou, Coordinator of the IsZEB Cluster, and Dr. Dimosthenis Ioannidis, Researcher B at CERTH/ITI, discussed the practical implementation of the SRI in Greece, emphasizing the importance of education and training for engineers.
The workshop provided an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among representatives of the technical and research communities, highlighting the pivotal role that smart technologies are expected to play in shaping the buildings of the future.
The Smart Readiness Indicator is expected to play a crucial role in the evolution of the building sector in the coming years. According to the revised EPBD, the transition is no longer focused solely on the energy performance of buildings, but also on their ability to perceive, interact, and adapt to their environment and users’ needs.
We would like to sincerely thank TEE/TKM for the invitation and for organizing this highly informative and engaging workshop.
