BIMERR Living Lab Workshop in collaboration with CERTH/ITI

A Living Lab workshop: The BIMERR renovation tools

The consortium of the BIMERR project in collaboration with CERTH/ITI, organizes on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, an Living Lab Workshop to present the BIMERR tools to relevant agencies, experts and companies in the wider construction industry. The event aims to provide feedback on the usefulness of the relevant tools during the pre-validation phase of the project results.

The Horizon 2020 funded project BIMERR is related to the Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its main targets are stakeholders from the AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) field. The project is currently developing a new toolkit to support stakeholders during the renovation process of existing buildings, from concept to delivery. The under development toolkit will broadly incorporate:

  • Tools for automated creation of enhanced building information models that go beyond geometrical information (Scan-to-BIM and Augmented Reality Tools).
  • A innovative Renovation Decision Support System (RenoDSS) to enable AEC stakeholders in charge of design & planning to quantitatively evaluate the available renovation options through an the accurate estimation of renovation impact on building performance.
  • A Process & Workflow Modelling and Automation (PWMA) tool-kit which will optimize the design and on-site construction process toward optimal coordination and minimization of renovation time and cost.
  • An interoperability framework among BIMERR tools as well as with third-party legacy ICT tools that will enable seamless BIM creation and information exchange among AEC stakeholders

During the workshop, 4 core BIMERR renovation tools will be showcased by their creators in brief live demos:

  • Scan-to-BIM tool
  • Renovation Decision Support System (RenoDSS) browser-based application
  • Augmented Reality Enabled In-Situ Building Feature Annotation (ARIBFA) tool
  • Process & Workflow Modelling and Automation (PWMA) tools
